Graphviz Topology Mapping Utility
Graphviz Topology Mapping Utility
The Graphviz Topology Mapping Utility involved the mapping of computer networks across a database schema which in conjunction with the tool Graphviz could be used to visually represent both the physical and logical structure of that network as when needed.
Its purpose primarily is to print blueprints of large networks quickly for engineers to use should a network develop a fault thus reducing the time for a survey. The system comprises of five layers, each serving a particular role.
One particularly important role ensures the system doesn't allow crowded connections and for example would prohibit a device obtaining 12 connections if the device in question has a port capacity of 12 yet only 10 of the ports are internally wired thus having consideration for any dead ports which are commonly present in patch panels. This device therefore at most could obtain 10 and not 12 connections.
